The North End of South Beach — Tommy Friday

$450.00

Tommy Friday

A time-honoured Wollongong tradition is to park at the lighthouse and sit watching the ocean.

The local preference, of course, is to leave one space between your car and the next. Somehow, in a major city and at one of the best views around, this strategy is almost always successful.

From here, tradies, lawyers, school kids and everyone else can sit quietly and watch the movement of the waves. Looking down towards South Beach, the ocean collides with itself, breaking and folding into a kaleidoscope of blues, greens, yellows and white.

It’s an ordinary Wollongong ritual, but one I’ve never really stopped looking at.

Original painting, acrylic & varnish, 2026
51 x 41 cm, framed
One of a kind
Currently hanging: Level 2, Suite 201
