Stand above the dunes, among the vegetation, and look out towards the water during a winter storm.
A cold, grey and seemingly bleak day can become surprisingly vivid. The entire stretch of South Beach seems to come alive—the rain, the wind, the movement of the water—and the whole thing takes on a crackling energy.
There is something strangely comforting about it. The harsher the weather becomes, the more alive the beach seems to feel.
